Yesterday was a lovely warm, sunny September day to visit the seaside and eat some tasty food at Food for friends.
Having arrived into Brighton just before 1pm there was only time for a brief walk around before it was time for FOOD! When I first went to food for friends many years ago it was a self service veggie/vegan cafe with a chilled out, grab a table vibe. These days, after the renovation it is now a veggie/vegan restaurant with waiters.
Drinks – home made lemonade, blueberry and pomegranate juice and an organic elderflower water.
Starter – a Thai platter to share
- tom ka soup
- mango salad
- sweet potato & cashew fritters with lime salsa
This starter got 8.5/10 from us.
Main
- Chilli stuffed roasted pepper (vegan option) 9/10
- Squash and red pepper parcel in a spicey tomato sauce 7.5/10
Lunch cost £40 plus service which was very friendly. The menu changes regularly so you can phone in advance to find out the vegan options.
Dessert
- Chocolate cheese cake from Infinity food cafe £2.50 take away

I also picked up some smoked garlic, organic peacans and dried bananas.
There is a new fair trade shop, B Cause in Brighton, on Sydney Street. It has only been open 8 months and has some lovely bags, t-shirts and jewellery.
