Going Raw with The Natives

14th May 2010

I am definitely finding the raw Wednesday easier and even looking forward to them…especially now Sash is getting more gourmet. This week I was served up raw crackers with raw humous.

The crackers were Raw Health made by Windmill Organics, you can find them at Wholefoods and Planet Organic. They are pricey, at £4 a pack it works out £1 per cracker. I actually felt satisfied after the lunch, much more than after just having a salad, but I found crackers quite salty.

Also tying in nicely with our raw day we had arranged to meet up with a Jill and John a Canadian couple who are travelling the world and blogging about their vegan findings along the way. Where do you think they wanted to go?

Another raw dinner at Saf, I kind of feel like it’s cheating a little bit, because it is so easy to be raw when you are eating the food they serve, but  there is now way we would deny our guests. 🙂 I really wanted to have the pad thai again, but this week I was able to maintain my resolve to have something new. As we have been here so often recently we have worked our way through the mains, so we decided to do starters and dessert.

My starter cannelloni was tiny (Sash will vouch I masked deflation well) being literally 3 strips of corgette filled with  cashew cheese , Sash’s tacos were more substantial, with 3 taco shells each with a different filling.

Size NOT to scale.

For dessert we had the blueberry cheesecake, which Jill pointed out didn’t really taste of blueberries. It of course looked amazing but I didn’t like the coconut shavings on the top and it didn’t taste different to any other raw cheese cakes I’ve had. It was ok, but not the best dessert I’ve had at Saf.

If you want to see what the Vegan Backpackers make of London follow their blog, you can also keep up to date with them on Twitter. We are certainly looking forward to seeing what little vegan treasures they will discover next!
