Review: Detox Your World

16th May 2013

If you follow me on Twitter you will know that I am partial to a green smoothie now and again, but never venture out of the green comfort zone. Same glass, same ingredients everytime. That all changed when Detox Your World kindly sent us some ingredients and recipe to make a *gasp* non green smoothie.

Nice colour huh? This little beauty contains ingredients I am familiar with but had never thought about putting in a smoothie.

Detox Your World carob and banana smoothie

Serves 1

Ingredients

Blend together and drink away! Or as someone commented on Flickr make an awesome ice cream with it.

The almond butter made it smell divine, I had a good sniff before drinking it! I always prefer to use whole almonds myself which is why my almond feta is never quite as pretty as Maple Spice’s.

Coconut water in smoothies, genius! I have never thought to do this before. Coconut water can be an acquired taste but this is a perfect way to ease yourself into it if you aren’t that keen on the flavour. I really loved the subtle aftertaste it left, I am going to have to stock up on some and make it a permanent feature, currently I just use regular tap water as a base.

This smoothie is a lot sweeter than I am used to, potentially this was because of the carob which is naturally sweet, but it’s kicked me out of my green smoothie funk!

Inspired to get more adventurous with my daily smoothies and armed with my new weapons I have been exploring some new flavour combos. Watch out for a rainbow array of them on Twitter…

In the meantime try out my new improved version of my tired old green smoothie:
