Winter warming FOOD

22 November 2013

There is one good thing about winter….  It’s the FOOD.  But then you know I was going to say that don’t you!

Winter to me is all about gravy, mash potato, custard, hot chocolate (not all on one plate).

Hot choc made with sweet freedom choc shots.

I tend to eat seasonally choosing salads and smoothies in the summer and warmer food in winter.

Sausage, mash, veg and onion gravy.

A good gravy transforms a meal, it can hide any mistakes!  I make good gravy but would like to make great gravy.  Let me know if you have a recipe :).

In winter I seem to end up having pudding (as often as I can).

Banana & custard topped with sweet freedom chocolate shots.  Quick, easy and sweet.  You could bake the banana with solid chocolate for a different flavour and texture.

Ooooh I recently had cauliflower cheese with kale and crusty bread with a dollop of coleman’s mustard on the side.  So good.  Both the veggies are home grown :).

Soup, soup, soup.  I would like to tell you that I make it but that is not always the case!  You can pick up vegan soups from M&S, Waitrose, Sainsburys own brands.  The vegan flavours are usually tomato, lentil or bean.

I have a store of custard in the cupboard ready and waiting to be used, cocoa powder, flour and all the ingredients for chocolate brownie… YUM!
