Goodness it is almost a year since I received a copy of The Vegg Cookbook for review, during that time however The Vegg has definitely become a staple of my cupboard and is makes regular appearances during weekend full breakfasts. It is still a product that has so much potential for experimentation but I can only dream of having a life where I had enough time to cook all the things I have in my head and in the books on my shelf.
Slooooowly I have been working my way through the cookbook. This is actually a compilation of user submitted recipes, so one of the first things I did notice was the photos are not professional but at least every recipe does have one so you know what things should look like. There is also some repetition – 4 French toast recipes, 3 quiche recipes, 3 omelette recipes, 2 scrambled tofu (one of which is my number one go to scramble recipe now), well it is an egg replacement! On the plus side people have been being adventurous so there is a good mix of other interesting looking recipes both sweet and savoury. And if you want to make those fancy looking vegan fried eggs there are recipes for spherifying your Vegg too. I am also guessing that since most of the recipes come from bloggers you can probably find them on the internet, but for someone new to Vegg or veganism I think a tub of Vegg and the book would make a pretty cute present.
You can see all the things I have been and will continue to try cooking from the book here.
Here are some of my favourites:
{ Vegan okonomiyaki }
{ Vegg carbonara }
{ Scrambled tofu }
Vegg have added to their range and now do a baking mix too, I expect I will be reviewing that at some point too!
