Club Mexicana

11th March 2015

Sash and I had our first taste of Club Mexicana at their fancy pop up dinner last year. Since then I have been keeping an eye on their stall location which is usually at Kerb market by King’s Cross. This is a little to far for me to make during my lunch break but my patience paid off when the Kerb market pitched up by the Gherkin.

They have two burritos on offer I went for the jackfruit, the other was bean.

Whilst it wasn’t the ridiculous size (in a I now need to pass out at my desk, burrito coma kinda way) of those from my regular burrito haunts, the flavours *were* ridiculous (jn a taste sensation out of this world way).

{ Jackfruit burrito so good it doesn’t matter there are no beans. }

Then when I heard they were doing another pop up serving food more similar to that they serve on the stall I practically dragged Sash along by her coat tails. Granted this involved some what of a trek for me as it was in Walthamstow, but as anyone who knows me knows: I will travel for food!

Nachos to start of course, followed by the tostados refrittos and the beer marinated seitan burrito.

Club Mexicana, Walthamstow

{ Loaded nachos: Baked tortilla chips loaded with ‘cheese’, black beans, pink pickled onions, guacamole, sour ‘cream’, ancho chilli sauce and salted chillies }

{Tostados Refrittos: Fried corn tortillas and topped with slow-cooked chipotle pinto beans, guacamole, sour ‘cream’ and hibiscus molasses}

So yeah, I’m hooked, I guess I’m an official CM groupie now. #someoneprintmeatshirt

Kerb market takes them to Spitalfields, the Gherkin and King’s Cross and they have also extended their stay at Hornbeam.
