Brighton Eco veggie Fayre

21 March 2010

I love Brighton!

P1000201I will travel down to Brighton for any reason, a day out, lunch, to meet a friend so when the Eco veggie fayre was in Brighton we sign up straight away.  We set off early from Blackheath at 8am, which is quite late by our usual standards, and got to Hove by 9am.  We have got the set up time down to about 30-45 minutes now.  We are much more organised in advance – especially with the tombola. At our first festival we took about 2 hours to set up!

The locals were queuing at the front of the town hall at 11 am and there was a gentle stream of people coming through for most of the day.  We were in the smaller, brighter room downstairs with two other baked stalls but it didn’t make any difference to the folks in Brighton.  They were hungry!

We saw a lot of familiar faces; hempish & the heavenly cake company – who we did a cake swap with.  Only on the name of research you understand!  Yum and thank you sums it up best.  We tried the vanilla, carrot and chocolate cake and they were all scrumptious.  Not everyone we offer cake swaps with accepts so it is really nice when someone does :-) .

We had lots of visitors too, thanks to everyone who came to say hi.  There is a lot of interest in the vegan cake fest too- YAY!

In Brighton there are loads of places for vegans to eat so we made a special effort to try and come up with some new enticing flavours which Mits blogged about last week.  They seemed to go down really well so there are a few flavours that might well be keepers for us.

We have already signed up for the Bristol Eco veggie fayre – a two day event from the 29th – 30th May with live music and approximately 8,000 -12,000 people.  That is a lot of cakes to bake!  Good thing we love what we do.
