Leather Wedding Anniversary

31st January 2010

Apparently the gift for your third wedding anniversary is leather – how ironic. I am pleased to say no animals were hurt in the celebrations. My original attempts to find us somewhere though did result in one sausage and mash shop trying to offer me their dairy free, gluten free, egg free, LAMB sausage. Thankfully Mr Ikeda offered to go anywhere I wanted so I immediately looked up Manna a vegetarian restaurant in Primrose Hill. As I read out the menu to him he remarked ‘well you can’t have any of that’, on closer inspection the little ‘v’ marked next to every item on the menu revealed they have gone completely vegan – hurrah!

So here’s what we had:

By this point I was already full.

Now I was completely stuffed, but not having dessert was NOT an option. Especially as I’d already seen the banoffe trifle come past me about 4 times.

I loved all of it the tart was huge for a starter (thank you Manna for your delicious cashew cheese!) and I loved the little sides of avocado and zingy carrot that came with the enichilda. Husband grumbled that they were a bit stingy with homemade bread and to be fair it wasn’t acutally in proportion to the amount of houmous that comes with it. The trifle was the best part (layers of custard, cream, banana, toffee and amazing bits of chocolate cake), we haven’t shared a dessert in a restaurant for probably over two years now – tres romantic.

That was the end of our night, but we started with a drink at the Xi Bar in the Tower Hotel which has views of Tower Bridge. Sigh, I felt a very lucky girl to spend the evening with Husband and my boyfriend…London. (^.^)
