Wahaca again – a success or not this time?!

13 February 2012

With a visit to Wahaca one always has to consider the possible outcomes, average food, cheese in vegan food or a darn fine burritto?

I have now tried this place three times, twice at Canary Wharf and once at Westfield.  The first time I had a really nice salad and a second visit was justified.  However, when feta arrived in my (clearly labelled) vegan burrito on the 2nd visit to Canary Wharf I was more than disappointed, sick, upset…

The waitress had handed me the vegan menu, understood “NO CHEESE”.  How did it go so wrong?  Well the restaurant was busy, it was Friday night and I don’t care, there is never a good excuse or reason to mess up someones dietary requirements.  (Although they were very apologetic).

So why go back to Wahaca?  Well I was going to Shepherds Bush anyway and Westfield is there.  It was Friday day (should be empty) and lovely Mitsu has had a few nice meals there.

So I decided to try the burrito again and it was really GOOD, accompanied by a side of spicy sweet potato with an apple, raspberry juice.

I really enjoyed the food.  I am so please I ventured their again, against the odds and recommend a visit BUT the quality of the service & food really seems to depend on which one you end up in.  Still nothing ventured nothing gained and us vegans are adventurers. :-)
