Tyrannosaurus Veg on Dealing with Temptation
This has been the most difficult blog to write so far because this one is all about you, dear reader and not me so I need to get it right. (more…)
Dear Friends
The summer exhibitions have been rolled up and returned, and we’re now looking forward to spring. But first, a lovely story from the exhibition shown outside the European Parliament in Brussels.
A homeless person unclipped the Commentaries banner, rolled himself up in it and fell fast asleep. Security felt they couldn’t get cross with someone wrapped up in Bob Dylan’s words and pictures of people at the sharp end of the environmental debate. I understand he was helped to a hostel – making Hard Rain the only advocacy project offering practical support for those in need.
The Vegan Cake & Chocolate Appreciation Society are a group that meet monthly in the Brighton area. In the summer the meetings take place in parks or on the seafront and this time of year (in the cold) we meet in peoples homes. Liz started the group as a fun way to promote vegan food. I’ve found it to be a great way to meet other vegans or veggies. (more…)
Tyrannosaurus Veg and the New Shoes
Thanks to the brilliant moral support I have been getting from Mitsu in particular, the incredible efforts the wonderful Mrs T_Veg has been going to for my meals plus all her moral support and fellow Vegans everywhere just saying, “Keep going” I reckon I have cracked this Vegan diet thing now.
My next blog will detail some temptations I have overcome and some planning disasters that left me hungry until I could get a Vegan bite to eat. Generally speaking, though, it has been much easier than I expected and a million times nicer than I ever thought it could be.
The time has now come for me to change my non-vegan lifestyle choices and that has started with shoes. I followed the link on the THV home page to Vegetarian Shoes in Brighton. (more…)
The Winter’s closing in, earlier than any of us expected, and it’s set to be a cold one! Those lips of yours are going to be begging for help to keep them happy and kissable. You’ve looked everywhere for the help you need but no one seems interested, all trying to sell you Parabens in a tin or Petroleum Jelly in a tube! Even the natural alternatives are made with beeswax! What can you do? Who can you call? (more…)
Tyrannosaurus Veg and the 5 course Vegan banquet
Once a year the Trades House of Glasgow elects a new Deacon Convener – who is the 3rd citizen of Glasgow after the Lord Provost and the Lord Dean of Guild. To celebrate we usually have a small intimate gathering for around 200 of the great and good from the City (and the rascally Tyrannosaurus Veg to make up the numbers!) during which we are always fed and watered in great style. (more…)
In my opening blog I mentioned my business life which involves me going to a number of corporate dinners at some of the glitziest hotels going. I thought that these would be a BIG problem for a determined-to-be Vegan but so far I have been very pleasantly surprised and all but one of the 6 dinner nights I have attended in the last 3 weeks have been very pleasant experiences indeed. (more…)
I am an imperfect Vegan.
It isn’t my fault. I want to be perfect but I haven’t worked out how to in a time scale that doesn’t involve me starving to death while I wait for my own produce to grow. (more…)
I got an email out of the blue from Mitsu inviting me to guest blog on this site. I am involved with Camden Friends of the Earth and we decided that we would organise a vegan banquet to celebrate the 10/10/10 Global day of doing. Mitsu heard about this and happily wanted to help us to promote it. The event is also a chance for us to raise funds as part of Friends of the Earth’s emergency appeal. (more…)
To celebrate London Restaurant Festival (4-18 Oct), Zilli Green is introducing a special £15 two-course menu to encourage people to ‘go green’! (more…)
Mitsu & Sasha have kindly asked me to write a guest blog about my potential business venture. (more…)
My name is Ruth Norbury, I have been married to James for just over a year although we have been together since we were in school. I am 32 and I live in Swansea with James, 2 border collies and 4.5 cats (one spends all its time with someone else!). (more…)

Sweetbird likes many things in life; his Antiguan Beach Hut, the music of Muddy Walters and afternoon favourite ‘Countdown’; but nothing compares to his love of flavours, big fat flavours, rich deep flavours, short sharp tangy flavours and long luscious fruity ones. As a result of his passion for flavour he worked with international catering supply company Beyond the Bean to craft a range of syrups, sauces and smoothies packed with flavour. (more…)
Hi there all you happy vegans!… I noticed one of the headings on this issue’s Vegan Magazine (Spring 2010) was the question: “WHY ISN’T THERE MORE OPPOSITION TO NONHUMAN ANIMAL EXPLOITATION ?” (more…)

The Basics / How to Participate
The Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale (WVBS) concept is simple: Groups and individuals around the world hold vegan bake sales at about the same time. Participants can do whatever they want to with the proceeds. Everything sold or given away at the bake sales must be vegan. (more…)
PLANEAT is a feature length documentary which tells the story of why our diet heavy in meat and dairy is bad for our health, environment and the future of the planet. The film, rooted in science, features engaging characters and mouth‐watering recipes. It aims to challenge the way people behave. This is ultimately to get us all to eat less meat and dairy products. What’s all the noise about? How many times in the last forty + years have we screamed and yelled that something huge was happening? That we had woken up and figured out that there is killing going on under our satiated noses, that we are being fed a BIG lie by the corporate profit motive and the viral expansion of our own greed that it represents… (more…)
We were pleased to exhibit at last month’s Eco Veggie Fayre in Reading, at which our nutrition scientist Dr Nina Bailey gave a talk on essential omega fats in the diet. We also showcased our echium seed oil health supplement, Echiomega, which provides an excellent source of omega-3, -6 & -9 fatty acids. We met with many vegans who were very familiar with the health benefits of omega fats in flaxseed oil, and yet so few people had heard of the new source of plant-based essential fats, found in echium seeds, derived from Echium plantagineum.
