Review: The Vegg Cookbook

8th June 2014

Goodness it is almost a year since I received a copy of The Vegg Cookbook for review, during that time however The Vegg has definitely become a staple of my cupboard and is makes regular appearances during weekend full breakfasts. It is still a product that has so much potential for experimentation but I can only dream of having a life where I had enough time to cook all the things I have in my head and in the books on my shelf. Review: Home-cooked Vegan Comfort Food

24th March 2014

Already a huge fan of Steen’s sandwich book I was really excited when I received a copy of (previously Hearty Vegan Meals for Monster Appetites) Home-cooked Vegan Comfort Food for review. I am already quite familiar with Steen’s style although here she has teamed up with someone different for the most part she still definitely likes to make you work for your supper!  I was glad to see there were in fact some simpler recipes, marked as ‘quick and easy’, my kinda meal. Review: The Great Vegan Bean Book

22nd January 2014

2013 appeared to be the best year for my cookbook acquiring habit so I have attained a back log of cook books to test out. This is actually the second of Kathy Hester’s books I had, the other being Vegan Slow Cooking for Two or Just for You which we were sent for review. (more…)

Supperclub, Notting Hill

19th September 2013

Eating in bed (with 21 other people), watching people writhing around in paint, a human canvas and Van Gogh flame throwing and cutting off his ear. Just another typical Saturday night for this girl.

Saf, Kensington

5th September 2013

It has been almost a year since I have been back to Saf. A less than favourable experience last time meant I wasn’t in any rush to go back, but Sash had been back, enjoyed it and now had a 50% Groupon discount voucher burning a whole in her pocket, so what the heck! (more…)

Review: Vegan Sandwiches Save the Day!

25th August 2013

Rather ashamedly I bought this book a whole year ago and haven’t used it till now. It turns out it is one of my most exciting (and now cherished) recipe books a) for it’s exotic ingredients b) for it’s inventive/creative combinations and twists on old classics and c) it’s a book full of sandwiches (one of my favourite things to eat)!! The Mighty Fork, Venn St Mkt Clapham

14th July 2013

I do not believe that for one second a vegan hot dog stall opening is a coincidence, after my attempts at a Coney Island dog (my how sad my little dog looks now) and dragging Sash to Soho for hot dogs last year. This my friends was meant to be.

The vegan food scene was in need of something like this – The Mighty Fork with it’s gourmet twist on the humble dawg. (more…)

Review: Detox Your World

16th May 2013

If you follow me on Twitter you will know that I am partial to a green smoothie now and again, but never venture out of the green comfort zone. Same glass, same ingredients everytime. That all changed when Detox Your World kindly sent us some ingredients and recipe to make a *gasp* non green smoothie. (more…)

Review: Ms Cupcake Naughtiest Vegan Cakes in Town

1st May 2013

I have a ritual I go through every time I get a new recipe book. Get myself a nice comfy spot, have some Post-its to hand and then read through the entire book (yes I even read the introductions) immersing myself, marking up must try recipes as I go and getting pretty darn hungry with it. (more…)

Mary Ward Centre Vegetarian Cafe, Russell Square

27th April 2013

TICK TOCK TICK TOCK

That’s the sound in my head right now as the maternity leave clock counts down my return to work. Sunny weather only makes it worse and makes me long to be out and about. My first excursion with Sash since the arrival of Lil Miss would have to be somewhere easyish to get to with a buggy and not too far from home.

The Mary Ward Centre’s vegetarian cafe seemed to be the best choice, just one tube all the way and also right on the doorstep of one of my lunchtime buddies who has been telling me about this place for at least a year! (more…)

Review: Nakd

Do you remember the first time you had a Nakd bar? It feels like I have been eating them for as long as I have been vegan, and that they have always been a permenant fixture at vegan festivals. (more…)

Review: Sarawen perfume

7th December 2012

I discovered Sarawen Perfumes after Sara Kramer mentioned that she had created a fragrance especially for her. My reasons for being excited were two fold, one I had just realised one of my favourite perfumes which I thought was ‘safe’ is actually owned by an evil company so was on the look out for a new vegan perfume. Two, it was love at first sight after visiting the website, perfumes inspired by Sherlock Holmes, Harry Potter, The Hunger Games? It’s a pretty safe assumption I am going to be hers forever more.
